Quatermass, a male Human, was an engineer in the service of the Galactic Empire during the era of the Galactic Civil War. His story is part of the [Legends](link to legends article).
In 1 BBY, Quatermass was serving within the Imperial Corrections Service on the Imperial prison barge known as the Purge. While traveling to the detainment moon called Gradient Seven, the Purge experienced a critical systems failure. To find replacement components for the repairs, Quatermass was chosen to join an away team dispatched from the Purge to a derelict Star Destroyer, the Vector, that was located nearby. Jareth Sartoris commanded the team, which boarded the Star Destroyer through a docking tube. The team then divided; Quatermass accompanied a group led by Armitage, an Imperial Corrections Officer, along with Phibes, another engineer, and two stormtroopers. Sadly, Quatermass and the rest of his team were infected by a virus present aboard the Star Destroyer, which ultimately resulted in their deaths.
