R4-G77 was an astromech droid owned by Hype Fazon of Ace Squadron, serving as co-pilot of Green Ace.
During the New Republic Era, R4-G77 served as the personal astromech for Hype Fazon, a racer of the Colossus refueling station. He took part in many races against the rest of Ace Squadron, where Fazon and R4 nearly always won. Once, when Fazon brought R4 to the Office of Acquisitions to have his motivator looked at, the droid fought back against Flix and Orka's attempts to shut him off so they could diagnose the problem, causing a mess in the shop before Orka managed to shut him down.
R4-G77 was an astromech droid with masculine programming. Advertising logos for various companies were painted on his exterior: 8Key, Snoke Cones, 79's, Craft Repair and Maintenance, Koe's, Old Jho's Pit Stop, Outer Rim Supply Co., Power Sliders, Ronto Grill, Admiral Snackbar and Level 1313 Boardwalk Cafe.
Unlike most astromechs, R4-G77 moved around with a repulsorlift and was equipped with an electroshock stun device inside him. He also had a grasping claw.
R4-G77 first appeared in the Star Wars Resistance series premier "The Recruit." His design was inspired by sketches drawn by original trilogy designer Joe Johnston; one of them had the droid floating, a design that proved to be just what production required but that would have added new challenges for the special effects team working on the original films.
The character was voiced by Stephen Stanton in Star Wars Resistance.
