Ultimately, the raid was unsuccessful, with eight of the Cloud's pirates being killed and Starbreaker barely escaping. In 231 BBY, the Cloud thought back to his failed raid on the trading post while leading an attack on the Cyclor Shipyards.
In 232 BBY, during the High Republic Era, the Nihil marauder organization orchestrated the Great Hyperspace Disaster—the destruction of the Legacy Run freighter—resulting in the ship's debris exiting hyperspace across the galaxy, threatening various locations. After the Jedi Order and Galactic Republic discovered the Nihil's role in the event, both set out to combat the marauders.
Between 232 BBY and 231 BBY, as part of the ongoing conflict, Nihil forces led by the Cloud Sarn Starbreaker raided Kiapene trading post on the astronomical object Mandrine. During the raid, eight of Starbreaker's pirates—including several Strikes—were killed. Also during the raid, the Cloud encountered a member of the Jedi Order, who scarred him on the cheek with a lightsaber. With his raid unsuccessful, Starbreaker was barely able to escape from the trading post aboard his Cloudship.

After the raid, Starbreaker was informed by his Tempest Runner—Pan Eyta—that he was lucky that his head had not been taken by the Jedi. The Cloud, however, felt differently and knew that his scar would be a constant reminder of his failure. In 231 BBY, Starbreaker led a Nihil attack on the Cyclor Shipyards in orbit of the Mid Rim planet Cyclor. During the attack, the Cloud rubbed his hand across the scar and recalled his failed raid on Kiapene trading post, viewing the shipyard attack as a way to even the score.
After sighting two Jedi Vectors, Starbreaker mentally admitted the Jedi had done him a favor as the majority of those he had lost during his failed raid had been "incompetent rabble," and that he had taken more care when choosing new recruits. Thinking back to the current battle, the Cloud considered that destroying the two Vectors would be worth more than the pirates he had lost on Mandrine and launched scav droids to slice through them. Starbreaker's attack on the Cyclor shipyards ultimately also ended in failure and his death when Jedi Padawan Bell Zettifar destroyed his Cloudship.
Sarn Starbeaker's raid on Kiapene trading post was mentioned in the 2021 novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm, written by Cavan Scott as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I.
