Gardner once again appeared as an extra in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, playing Trinto Duaba in the latter. Gardner was at one time believed to have also played Duaba in A New Hope, but Chris Trevas says Duaba was portrayed in that film by an American extra wearing a mask made by Rick Baker.
He appears in the documentary The Director and the Jedi, released as a home video extra for Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi.
