The scientific minister was a title within the Galactic Empire which held authority over all divisions of the Imperial science corps. Following Galactic Emperor Palpatine's visit to Tantiss Base on Wayland, Chief Scientist of the Advanced Science Division Dr. Royce Hemlock suggested that he be appointed to the position to better serve the Empire, to which Emperor Palpatine responded that it would occur in due time.
