Shayoto's master's master

A Force-sensitive individual served as a member of the Jedi Order and lived for centuries prior to the Krath Holy Crusade of 3997 BBY. He witnessed both the Hundred-Year Darkness, a century-long war against a group of Dark Jedi that ended in 6900 BBY, and the 5000 BBY Great Hyperspace War against the Sith Empire . The long-lived Jedi eventually instructed another Jedi, who in turn taught the Jedi Shayoto, with the latter two also going on to live for hundreds of years.

The teacher of Shayoto's Jedi instructor at one point imparted to Shayoto the knowledge of the general principles under which adherents of the dark side of the Force operated—which included the secret corruption of the leaders of various societies followed by sudden strikes that vanquished aeons-old civilizations. In 3997 BBY, at the Jedi conclave on the planet Deneba that sought to address the growing threat of the Krath cult of darksiders, Shayoto recalled those teachings while addressing the gathering.

The Jedi was introduced in the third issue of Dark Horse Comics' Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi - Dark Lords of the Sith comic book mini-series. The issue was authored by Tom Veitch and Kevin J. Anderson and published on December 13, 1994. In the 1997 audio dramatization of Dark Lords of the Sith, Shayoto's lines are instead erroneously delivered by Jedi Master Arca Jeth, and the line of long-lived individuals including this Jedi is not mentioned.
