A ship of the line was a term for a heavy capital ship in the Galactic Republic Navy and Imperial Navy.
Heavier cruisers and battleships in the Republic Navy were often termed ships of the line when part of the naval unit known as a "section." The section in turn was called a "line" when encompassing groups of heavier warships.
In the Imperial Navy, the individual Imperial-class Star Destroyers were made into lines by themselves.
