At some point during or before 21 BBY, Shoan Kilian had obtained the rank of Admiral while serving in the Galactic Republic's Navy. When the Clone Wars broke out across the galaxy, Kilian continued to serve in the Navy and assumed command of the Endurance, a Venator-Class Star Destroyer which belonged to the Open Circle Fleet's Fifth Fleet. During his service aboard the vessel, Kilian oversaw a visit from a Clone Youth Brigade.
Shoan Kilian was a human male with brown eyes, grey hair which was only visible through his eyebrows and beard, and fair skin. The Admiral stood at 1.72 meters high.
Shoan Kilian was a man of principle and high honor. Despite attempted persuasions by General Anakin Skywalker and Mace Windu, he refused to abandon his ship, the Endurance, even as it was on a crash course to Vanqor. Despite his stubbornness, Shoan was an understanding man.
