Female sleft-chuffni usually gathered in herds of around a dozen, while males were solitary. The creatures were generally gentle and placid, but were known to become jittery during thunderstorms.
The sleft-chuff were domesticated by the Denfrandi, who used them as both transports and as mobile homes, attaching gondolas to the creatures' undersides. Since the average sleft-chuff could carry up to fifty tons of dead weight, the Denfrandi and their homes did not present a burden to the creatures.
