Snowflake Snack

Official description

The Child awakens inside the Razor Crest and sneaks past the sleeping Mandalorian to get a taste of his first snowfall.

Plot summary

Grogu uses the Force.

Grogu uses the Force.

The foundling Grogu awakes inside the Razor Crest gunship. He looks around and prods his guardian, the Mandalorian Din Djarin. Seeing that Djarin is asleep, he sneaks to the back of the Razor Crest and uses the Force to open the back door. When he gets outside, he is amazed by the falling of the snow, and he frolics around in it, attempting to catch a snowflake, which he successfully does. He then uses the Force to gather some of the snow, cobbling it together to form a large snowball. However, he mistakenly drops the snowball on himself, leaving only his ears protruding through the snow.

At this point, Djarin awakes back in the Razor Crest and realizes with alarm that Grogu is no longer in the gunship. He glances around and realizes that the back door is open. He races outside and lifts Grogu from the snow, who smiles with delight. Djarin gives a small snowball to Grogu and carries him back into the Razor Crest. Unbeknown to Djarin, Grogu uses the Force to lift the large snowball he had created earlier back into the ship. The two then take off.

Development

"Snowflake Snack" is one of several holiday-themed animated shorts released online as part of LEGO's Celebrate the Season webseries. The music used during the opening title sequence is the main title theme that was first heard in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, composed by John Williams. The one-minute-long short was released on November 5, 2020, being preceded by "Reindeer Walker" in the series order and followed by "The Pumpkin Batch," released in the next batch of the Celebrate the Season shorts on September 15, 2021.

Continuity

The short takes place around 9 ABY as a non-canonical tie-in to the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. The Disney.com listing of "Snowflake Snack" misspelled Razor Crest as "Razorcrest."

Reception

Mia Johnson of the FanSided website Dork Side of the Force called the short "cute" and her favorite of the holiday-themed LEGO shorts. It garnered the most views and likes of any video in the Celebrate the Season series' 2020 releases, with over thirty-six million and thirty-seven thousand, respectively, on the LEGO YouTube channel and over twelve million and thirty-two thousand, respectively, on the Star Wars Kids channel.
