Sorna was a woman of the Human species, residing on the desert world of Tatooine. She maintained a long-standing friendship with Shmi Skywalker. Following Shmi Skywalker's death in 22 BBY during the Separatist Crisis, Sorna would commemorate her by setting flowers upon her grave at the Lars homestead each year. Roughly twenty years later, during the Galactic Civil War, Sorna, now an elderly woman, found herself unable to continue this tradition. Therefore, in 1 ABY, Cuan Talon, a friend and the manager of Tosche Station, engaged a spacer to assist her. Consequently, Sorna dispatched the spacer to the Lars homestead with the flowers to place on Shmi's grave in her stead.
Sorna was featured as a non-player character within the video game Star Wars Galaxies released in 2003. This game was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game created by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts, before the game's servers were shut down on December 15, 2011.
A notable inconsistency exists between this narrative and the novel A New Hope: The Life of Luke Skywalker by Ryder Windham. The novel indicates that Owen Lars had removed all the gravestones from the Lars homestead prior to 15 BBY, making it impossible for Sorna or the player to place flowers on Shmi's grave.
