However, as this edition notes, the original 2013 text found in this book is considered part of the canonically defunct Star Wars Legends continuity. The new The Force Awakens content in this book, which remains part of the official Star Wars canon, was originally published in the 2015 reference title Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Incredible Cross-Sections.
Two versions of this "updated" edition have been released. The 2016 edition features cover artwork of Poe Dameron's T-70 X-wing starfighter, Black One. A 2017 edition features cover artwork of Rey's speeder. Both updated editions feature identical interior content.
