The Starveil Project was a project that was undertaken by the Galactic Republic in 4067 BBY, to search the Luire system.
Officially, the aim of the project was to explore and search for alien species. However, in reality, the project was put together to search for an experimental Republic Navy vessel that had gone missing near the Luire system. To carry out the project, Commander Bethanie Melan of the Republic Navy was assigned to command the Starveil, a civilian exploration ship, and use it to scan the Luire system for any sign of the missing vessel. However, while undertaking the mission, the Starveil crash-landed on Nyriaan, the fifth planet in the system.
