Talk: Batonn insurgency

Timeline

Is it known whether the Battle of Batonn occurs following the events of the Mission to Malachor? Jkirk8907 (talk) 01:50, September 25, 2016 (UTC)

  • The extent of our knowledge is limited to the information presented in the article. Lewisr ( talk ) 01:52, September 25, 2016 (UTC)

Admiral?

Despite it being the most probable situation, there isn't any concrete evidence confirming that Thrawn's promotion to grand admiral came from a lower admiral rank (whether it be fleet admiral, vice admiral, rear admiral, or just admiral). Considering the Emperor himself facilitated the promotion, Thrawn might have bypassed several ranks. Therefore, referring to him as an "officer" or simply "Thrawn" before the Battle of Batonn seems more cautious. Any other designation is purely speculative. (I anticipate the novel will clarify this matter.) --LelalMekha (talk) 17:33, September 25, 2016 (UTC)

  • The key aspect of Konstantine's statement was the word " Grand Admiral." His astonishment stemmed from the "Grand" part of the title, not the mere fact of Thrawn being an admiral. Occam's razor. - Brandon Rhea (talk) 17:43, September 25, 2016 (UTC) Mh, point taken. I concede that you are likely correct. Regardless, the truth will surface soon enough if this isn't the case. --LelalMekha (talk) 17:46, September 25, 2016 (UTC)

Scrim Island

Should we consider creating a dedicated page for the Battle of Scrim Island? In the Thrawn novel, the events unfolding on Scrim Island are portrayed as distinct from those transpiring at Paeragosto City on Batonn's main landmass. The book clearly depicts the Battle of Scrim Island concluding with Thrawn's triumph, achieved by utilizing his ships to create an artificial tidal wave that overwhelms the island's ion cannons, turbolaser batteries, and deflector shields. Consequently, the insurgents surrender and free their captives. On page 361, Thrawn states that "this battle [Scrim Island] is over. But the war for Batonn has not yet been won."

The events in Paeragosto City unfold later, with the insurgents seizing control of a mine and establishing their headquarters there. Thrawn attempts to negotiate with Nightswan, but his efforts to resolve the siege are complicated when Arihnda Pryce murders an Imperial agent and detonates the mine to conceal her actions. This explosion results in the deaths of all the insurgents and numerous civilians. We might have the Battle of Batonn encompass the events of Paeragosto City. Should we consider renaming the article? • I am open to either establishing a separate page, or incorporating both events into the existing one, possibly renaming it to 'War on Batonn' -- Lewisr ( talk ) 11:48, July 19, 2017 (UTC) Both suggestions are acceptable. I will soon be going to sleep as it is midnight here in New Zealand. Perhaps I will address this later, or another Wookieepedian can determine the most suitable approach. Andykatib 12:04, July 19, 2017 (UTC) I am agreeable to either option. I believe a separate article would be beneficial, as Zahn provides significant detail regarding each aspect of the war. Over time, this could consume a considerable portion of a single article. I can attempt to address this later, depending on my availability. Otherwise, feel free to proceed yourself :). --Spongebob456 talk 15:28, July 19, 2017 (UTC) I believe I can cover the Battle of Scrim Island within the Battle of Batonn article. I could model this article's structure after the Battle of Ryloth, which encompasses the space battle, Landing at Nabat, and the Battle of Lessu, each covered individually in The Clone Wars episodes "Storm Over Ryloth", "Innocents of Ryloth", and "Liberty on Ryloth". The Batonn insurgency would then serve as a condensed conflict article, also addressing the Imperial counter-insurgency operations on Denash and Sammun. Andykatib 12:27, July 26, 2017 (UTC) That sounds perfectly reasonable to me; thank you for all of your expansions, Andy! --Lewisr (talk) 12:30, July 25, 2017 (UTC)
