Talk: Greer

Death

According to the InfoBox, Greer's death occurred on Pantora, as indicated by The Bad Batch Season 3, episode 6. However, this information clashes with the main text of the page, which makes no mention of his death. While the page previously stated his death, it was revised to indicate that he was rendered unconscious via choking, referencing the episode's audio description. The episode itself provides no visual confirmation of his death, and the page's main text seems to align with this. Why, then, have attempts to eliminate the (incorrectly cited) death date been reverted on three separate occasions, without any explanation or justification, even though each edit clearly outlined these discrepancies? Such revert behavior, lacking any accompanying comments, strikes me as highly unprofessional and disrespectful to other contributors. Either the main text needs to be updated to reflect his death, or the InfoBox needs to be corrected. --WOLKsite (talk) 21:09, 21 April 2024 (UTC)

  • Considering the uncertainty surrounding Greer's ultimate fate, I have modified both the infobox and the main body of the page to reflect that Greer's death is not confirmed. It is entirely plausible that Greer did die, but definitively stating this at this juncture constitutes speculation. Wok142 ( talk ) 17:24, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
  • I am documenting that I have protected the page from further edits temporarily, to allow for discussion and to stop the ongoing edit war. OOM 224 (he/him) 17:31, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

At the beginning of the episode, Rex states "He's gone" in reference to Greer. Why does Wookieepedia claim on this page that he did not die? Isn't that statement sufficient to confirm his death? Or should I have just started an edit war to lock the page with my version, as User:WOLKsite did? Locking the page with his (incorrect) version is the antithesis of "dispute resolution," especially when messages are being deleted from the talk pages where "a proper discussion" should be taking place, without allowing others to contribute—Unsigned comment by 162.210.194.2 (talk • contribs).

  • I find the wikilawyering to be unwelcome. OOM 224 (he/him) 17:43, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
  • I apologize if my previous statement was perceived as rude. However, I am simply seeking clarification on one question: Why was the page locked after User:WOLKsite removed the death information? I am providing a direct quote from the episode, yet the user in question removes it without verifying the episode, as he admits to removing it due to the "contradiction in the text on the page itself" (as stated in the initial message on this page). I requested temporary protection of the page due to the unproductive edit war. I was also the one who removed the death information from the infobox because Greer's death is not definitively confirmed, and asserting that it is constitutes speculation, in my opinion. Could you please provide a timestamp indicating where the "he's gone" statement occurs in the episode so that I may investigate further? Wok142 (talk) 19:24, 23 April 2024 (UTC) I chose to protect the page in its current state because it is preferable to potentially omit accurate information than to present information that may be factually incorrect.
