Talk: Nomi Sunrider

Hair

What's with her hair? I can't think of another Star Wars character with the same type of hair-do.--Etapelba 10:37, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

You are right that her hair is very unique. The little diamond shapes of hair above her forehead which are shaved into her scalp while the rest is long. I don't know why she does that but it is pretty sweet looking in some on the comics. In other ones it just looks weird.

  • Yeah...how come one moment she's half bald, and the other she's got a full head of hair? .... 05:28, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Training with Thon

Hey I was reading through this article when I noticed that it states that Nomi Sunrider began training with Thon five years after Oss Wilum already was. But in 4002 BBY it states that in that year Wilum started training with Thon, that would mean that Nomi started her training with Thon in 3997 BBY and Wilum left shortly after to aid Arca Jeth in the Freedon Nadd Uprising, except that event happens a year before Wilum supposedly stoped training with Master Thon.

Either Oss Wilum only trained with Thon for four years, or Garnoo died and Thon took Wilum as his Padawan in 4003 BBY, except that would mean that Nomi would of had to start training with Thon one year back too.

Can anyone explain this please? -TheLostJedi 12:50, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

This must be one of those cases where somewhere along the line someone made a mistake and facts don't quite match up. Oss tells Nomi in Tales of the Jedi 4: The Saga of Nomi Sunrider, Part 2 that he has been with Thon for five years. Maybe he was with him for 4 years and a few months and is rounding up or maybe he is counting in the years of a certain planet rather than in standard years. Who knows? The most likely explanation is an editting error somewhere.--144.92.215.78 00:07, 14 June 2007 (UTC)User:Kyp-Durron

Profile Image

Is it just me, or does the profile image for Nomi seem sort of low quality? Not to mention that she looks different in it than most other pictures, say in the comics...Zadi 21:45, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

  • This image is from The New Essential Chronology, which depicts many characters in this likeness. It isn't distorted, just the artist's rendition of her. I do agree that her appearances changes slightly from time to time, but as this is a Featured article, it has been judged by the most stringent of standards. The Inquisitors who passed it felt that this image was the most appropriate one to display. Hope this helps.—Tommy 22:23, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I am familiar with the image and the new essential chronology. I also respect the Inquisitor's decisions, I just am surprised there's not a better image of her out there. This one's fine though. Zadi 22:50, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

  • I hear you on that one. Sometimes, these types of images are just the best we've got. Many, if not all of Nomi's images depict her in battle someway somehow. This happens to be one of the rare ones where she seems to be just chillin ;)—Tommy 23:05, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Nah Im guessing it's just some Jedi Master who has a vision of her...

Grand Master

I'w been thinking on this for a long time now... Coud she have been a Jedi Grand Master? Cause the only once we know of is Yoda And Luke Skywalker...

And I see some trais that she might have been a Grand Master.

  • The only source that she was the head of the Jedi Order is the Power of the Jedi sourcebook for the D20 RPG. It states "[Vima's] mother, now head of the Jedi Order, had no time to provide it." This is in regard to Vima's desire to be trained as a Jedi at the start of Tales of the Jedi: Redemption. However, the "opening scrawl" of Redemption states that Nomi Sunrider is "now a charismatic leader in the Republic and a spokesperson for the Jedi Knights". Barringer 23:35, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
  • I just checked the Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia as well, which states: "...Nomi threw herself into politics and was the driving force behind the Exis Convocation. She was so preoccupied that she lost track of her teenage daughter, Vima, who left to find the exiled Ulic." It seems as though it's an error on the part of the writer of Power of the Jedi, since it isn't mentioned in the CSWE. Perhaps someone can ask Leland Chee. Barringer 23:43, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
