In 29 BBY, Anakin Skywalker sparred with a Jedi training droid that he had converted to look like the Sith Lord Darth Maul. In 22 BBY, Bear Clan utilized Marksman-H training remotes to practice deflecting blaster fire. During the Clone Wars, Skywalker's Padawan Ahsoka Tano and other Jedi trained against training remotes adapted to fight like battle droids. Unimpressed that his apprentice was simply following the same training routine as everyone else, he had Tano train with the 501st Legion they commanded. In 19 BBY, Caleb Dume, Sammo Quid, and Tai Uzuma underwent similar training in their Initiate Trials.

Imperial era

Following the end of the Clone Wars, the Bad Batch fought several Kaminoan training droids as well as armored DT-series sentry droids in a combat proficiency test that turned into a live-fire exercise in the Tipoca City Training Facility. After defeating the droids, Admiral Wilhuff Tarkin assigned them on a mission to hunt down the Onderonian partisan leader Saw Gerrera. At some point following Order 66, the Sith Lord Darth Vader encountered the Jedi Master Kirak Infil'a living on Al'doleem with the Jedi training droid Arex.

Several years into the reign of the Galactic Empire, Vader sparred with his own Imperial training droid. Imperial officers at the Academy of Carida also trained with TRD-2 sparring droids, three-arm multi-armed droids based on Balmorran Arms' SD-series battle droid model but these were considered subpar due to the number of trainee deaths being lower than expected and were gradually phased out. Another type of training droid used by the Empire was the WSW Mk III "Harrier" Combat Remote which possessed stun blasters and a built-in training software.

In 0 BBY, one Marksman-H training remote was used by Luke Skywalker onboard the Millennium Falcon. In 0 ABY, Skywalker continued his training with multiple remotes simultaneously, both during a mission to Temple of Eedit and shortly after the Assault on Cymoon.

Sergeant Kreel trained with a with a trio of Marksman Hs shortly before the Mission to Horox III. Although he was able to deflect a few incoming blasts, he was quickly overwhelmed.

Rise of the First Order

In 34 ABY, the former stormtrooper Finn found the same remote used by Skywalker years earlier aboard the Millennium Falcon.

During that same time, several training droid models could be found for sale in the Droid Depot of Batuu's Black Spire Outpost, including advanced Marksman-Hs, Bladed Training Remotes and elite Training Remotes.
