Ukatis system

The Ukatis system was located in the Inner Rim and contained the celestial body Ukatis. By 3996 BBY, the star system's king ordered its blockade, which resulted in its inhabitants suffering from starvation. Subsequently, the Jedi Padawan Jolee Bindo and a partner began smuggling food and supplies through the blockade. The Ukatis enforcer Nayama, however, at one point shot down Bindo's starship, which led to the Jedi being incarcerated at a prison on Ukatis. After he was ultimately broken out of prison, both he and Nayama eventually left the Ukatis system.

By 3959 BBY, the Ukatis system was situated in the area widely explored by the Galactic Republic.

At some point by 3996 BBY, the king of the Ukatis system ordered its blockade in order to oppress the local citizens, who consequently suffered from starvation. The Senate of the Galactic Republic attempted to negotiate a peace; however, those efforts were unsuccessful. Eventually, the Jedi Padawan Jolee Bindo, after acquiring a starship and a partner, began smuggling food and supplies through the blockade. Relying on his piloting skills as well as the use of the Force, Bindo and his partner successfully navigated difficult situations against staggering odds, never getting caught in their endeavors.

At one point, however, the Ukatis enforcer Nayama, operating aboard a lone Ukatish frigate, shot down Bindo's craft, forcing it to crash-land on Ukatis. The enforcer then dragged the Padawan to the local capital city, where he was imprisoned. Ultimately, Bindo was broken out of the prison and kidnapped Nayama, and at some point thereafter, the pair fell in love and married, and eventually left the Ukatis system. By 3959 BBY, the system fell within the "civilized galaxy," the territory that had been widely explored by the Republic.

In 3956 BBY, Bindo told the Jedi trainee Revan about his adventures in the Ukatis system.

Inhabitants

The Ukatis system was governed by a monarchy that was headed by a king. Its population numbered at least several million.

Behind the scenes

The Ukatis system was introduced in the 2003 BioWare video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. In the game, the star system can be mentioned in an optional conversation the player character, Revan, can have with Jolee Bindo. This article assumes one hundred percent game completion and that the conversation took place as described. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the system in grid square L-15.
