Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi investigated the upheavals in the Pijal system, including chemical incident on Pijal's moon.

In 40 BBY, Princess Fanry sought to avoid signing the Governance Treaty initiative—a motion that would strip the Pijali monarchy of power—which was scheduled to be adopted by the Pijal system following her upcoming coronation. She secretly directed Pijali blackguard soldiers to use the chemical in the atmosphere of the moon of the Inner Rim planet Pijal, as one incident of many in a campaign to sow enough unrest on Pijal to disrupt the planned treaty signing. The chemical's usage turned the moon's atmosphere red for a few days, panicking many Pijali citizens with its ominous shade compared to its normal golden-and-green appearance. On the morning after the moon's color changed, the blackguards left a painted message on a temple in Pijal's capital city, asking the public whether their act of dissent was enough for them not to be forgotten.

The incident was blamed on the Opposition—a political performance troupe known for protesting the Governance Treaty—and the Pijali royal guard captain Deren kept a holographic recording of the event stored. Some days later, Deren gave the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, the recording of the chemical's usage while they were on Pijal investigating several recent upheavals and attempting to locate the Opposition. Eventually, following Fanry's unsuccessful attempt to crown herself queen during her violent coronation, the Opposition was cleared of blame for the chemical usage and other incidents.
