WookieeProject: Pride is a WookieeProject dedicated to improving our in-universe articles about Canon and Legends characters who are LGBTQIA+, and out-of-universe articles about LGBTQIA+ Star Wars contributors, such as artists and actors. LGBTQIA+ is an initialism for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual/aromantic, and other related communities and identities. Thus far, StarWars.com has used LGBTQ+ to refer to gender and sexual diversity.
Wookieepedians who wish to participate do not have to identify as LGBTQIA+; outing yourself is not required to participate. However, we do request that you already support and have knowledge regarding LGBTQIA+ rights and representation. This is for the safety and comfort of those involved, and because it is the basis of this project. We encourage those who are comfortable doing so to state your pronouns, both to prevent misgendering and to help foster an environment where pronoun-sharing is normalized so others feel safe to share.

Our initial goals are expanding stubs and addressing maintenance issues in articles listed on our current projects tab. We also seek to promote articles to featured, good, or comprehensive status—peer-reviewed articles that are highlighted to readers as examples of the best work on Wookieepedia. Elevating these pages to "status articles" will better represent the contributions of LGBTQIA+ authors and artists to the franchise and reflect the importance of LGBTQIA+ representation within these stories. Check out the current status articles and nominations!
This WookieeProject is focused not on fighting what we hate, but saving what we love. However, some articles do not represent the community well; it may be due to how they're written or because the source material is problematic. We intend to address these articles as they're identified rather than focusing our attention on them.
Though WookieeProjects are dedicated to articles, we will also discuss and propose site policies that better represent and protect this community. No one should have to feel alone when they're advocating for change. If a consensus is reached here regarding a policy proposal, it will then be taken to the Senate Hall for Wook-wide discussion.
Toqgers , a long-time advocate for change on Wookieepedia, has maintained a thorough Google spreadsheet on Canon LGBT Star Wars Characters for years now, which has helped guide this project's canon coverage.
