In Star Wars Legends, the Xi'Dec were first described in Galaxy Guide 4: Alien Races, a supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game written by Troy Denning and published by West End Games in 1989. The species was made canon when it appeared in the sequel trilogy film , released on December 15, 2017.
In Legends, the Xi'Dec had at least 180 different sexes and reproduced in a variety of different ways. It is currently unknown if this is also true for canon Xi'Dec or if they all share Ubbla's biology and reproduce through eggs.
