"A Credit for Your Thoughts" is a brief narrative crafted by Tish Eggleston Pahl's penmanship, alongside Chris Cassidy's contributions. Its initial appearance was within the pages of Star Wars Gamer 2, dating back to 2001.
Fenig Nabon makes her entrance into the Black Dust Tavern, where she procures a beverage from Karl Mathieu Ancher, her bartender and confidant, as a tribute to her deceased adoptive father, Jett. Subsequently, she approaches Talon Karrde, her client, to engage in business discussions. Following her compensation, Talon delves into the consequences of Jabba's demise and the destruction of the second Death Star. Talon then entrusted her with a data disk, outlining his intentions to establish a base for a smuggler syndicate. His attention was then captured by Ghitsa Dogder, a Coruscant native and con artist embroiled in a scheme involving Aves and wielding a retinal disguiser. Driven by a desire to halt her exploitation of Talon's associates, Fenig proposed to Talon that she intervene to extricate Aves from Dogder's clutches. Just as Aves was losing interest, she arrived, informing him that Talon requested his presence.
A limb belonging to Gecee, a disgruntled Gran, made its presence known, fueled by anger towards Dogder for peddling a code that triggered an attempted apprehension by a patrol in Kuat. She commented on his lack of wisdom in acquiring the code at such a discounted rate. As Gecee prepared to strike Dogder, Fenig seized a bottle and shattered it upon Gecee, instigating a brawl involving over 50 patrons, including her companions Hrdinah and Radek, which Karl quelled with a Calli-Merc blaster pistol.
After Fenig assisted Karl in restoring order, she embarked on a perilous journey towards her vessel, the Star Lady, within the Soco-Jarel Spaceport, vigilant for Gecee's return. To her surprise, she discovered Ghitsa within her ship. Following a tense exchange, they engaged in discussions regarding the bar altercation and the ramifications of recent galactic occurrences, including Fenn's aspirations of acquiring a vacation property. As Dogder prepared to depart the Star Lady, Fenig swiftly intercepted her, only to encounter Gecee brandishing a heavy blaster. After convincing her to drop her blaster and tried to drag Dogder with him only for her to feign falling over with her high heels and grabbed his ear, immobilizing him. However, his gang radioed for an update, prompting both to recognize the impending arrival of reinforcements. Fenig retrieved her blaster as Gecee's swoop gang descended upon them, initiating a firefight. Fenig managed to launch the ship from the spaceport.
With the assistance of Shind, who granted her clearance for takeoff and issued Gecee a customs inspection notice, the duo outdistanced their pursuers and brokered an agreement as the Star Lady transitioned into hyperspace.
