Abyssin, spoken and written, served as the formal language on the planet Byss, which was the native world of the Abyssin species. The oral version of Abyssin consisted primarily of guttural sounds that many other species perceived as rudimentary. The written form of the language employed a limited set of basic hieroglyphs.
