Accelerated Charged Particle Repeater Gun

The Accelerated Charged Particle Repeater Gun, also known by names like the ACP repeater gun, Trandoshan Chopper, and Nar Shaddaa Grinder, represented a medium-range blaster weapon system. It was produced by Arakyd Industries and saw widespread use among criminal elements, particularly the Trandoshan mercenary faction. A notable feature of these weapons was their relatively simple design, incorporating integrated extinguishers to mitigate overheating issues.

Description

These weapons demonstrated the ability to readily penetrate shields. However, they proved less effective when used against battle droids or other targets with armored exteriors. Furthermore, sustained firing would lead to overheating, which negatively impacted the weapon's accuracy.

Each particle ammunition cartridge contained forty individual particle charges, which provided the energy for the gun's accelerated particle projectiles. When activated, a single particle charge possessed the energy needed for a single shot. Following the firing of a particle charge, the empty casing was expelled from the top of the gun. This process repeated until the cartridge was empty or the user released the trigger. Ammunition was fed into the weapon from a magazine mounted on the top-rear. The weapon appeared to employ some form of tracer ammunition, as the accelerated charged particles were visible during firing. However, the LS-150 Heavy ACP Repeater fired larger, more powerful rounds that were visible without needing tracer enhancements.

History

During the era of the Clone Wars, these weapons were employed by Trandoshan mercenaries and those involved in the slave trade.
