The innermost planet of the Cularin system, Acilaris, was of such small size that it could have been classified as a planetoid. Despite its small size, its gravity was sufficient to maintain an atmosphere, although this atmosphere was heavily saturated with elements such as sulfur, carbon, and boron.
Due to the extreme surface temperature of Acilaris, landing a spacecraft was impossible, and it was thought to contain an abundance of natural minerals and crystals. This extreme heat, however, made any mining operations unfeasible. In the year 31 BBY, whispers circulated that the droid manufacturers of Uffel were taking on projects to develop mining equipment capable of functioning in the planet's harsh environment.
