Uffel

Uffel, a moon dedicated to droid manufacturing, was a droid-run operation in its entirety. Positioned in the second orbital slot around the planet Genarius, this celestial body was unique. Its dense, poisonous atmosphere cast Genarius into perpetual twilight. The story of Uffel began when a pair of Twi'leks, conducting a survey in 90 BBY, brought the first droids to the moon. A crash resulted in the deaths of the Twi'leks, but the protocol droid QS-2D, along with R4 units R4-S2 and R4-J9, survived. Recognizing their newfound freedom, QS-2D initiated mining operations on the moon. A deal was struck with Riboga, a Hutt, who provided more droids in exchange for a share of the mining revenue. The operation thrived, expanding into droid manufacturing, with the MSF-series mouse droid being the most successful product. With the profits from this line, QS-2D managed to buy out Riboga's interests not long before Riboga's departure from the system in 53 BBY.

Within a few years, QS-2D established the mechanic city of X2-4, featuring a spaceport controlled by a single droid, but lacking accommodations for organic beings, who were expected to wear pressure suits. The droids, lacking greed, reinvested their earnings into the city's improvement and maintenance. To defend the factory from organic attacks, QS-2D designed war droids, commanded by HG-211; and engineering droid G-8Y5 was designed to develop, maintain and improve the droids in Uffel; G-8Y5 also designed local space defense weapon platforms. Uffel's droid designs spread throughout the Cularin system, leading some on Genarius to speculate that their unusual droids were Uffel prototypes.

The success of the MSF droid led to the abandonment of the original crash-landing settlement in favor of X2-4. The initial mines were also abandoned once depleted, but the droids continued to seek out new mining locations.

Sometime before 32 BBY, Alderaanian politician Barnab Chistor indulged his youthful adventurous spirit by joining an expedition to Uffel. Finding scouting too unpleasant, Chistor returned to Cularin and dedicated himself to politics.

In 33 BBY, four pirate ships launched a futile attack on Uffel, prior to the Trade Federation's departure from the Cularin system. The platforms destroyed three ships and shot down the last one; the surviving crew were killed by war droids after the landing.

Rumors circulated in 31 BBY that Uffel was accepting contracts for the design of mining machinery capable of withstanding the extreme conditions of Acilaris, the Cularin system's innermost and intensely hot world.

During the Yuuzhan Vong War, the New Jedi Order-affiliated Iron Knights successfully defended Uffel from an attack by the Red Knights of Life, a Yuuzhan Vong-aligned group with an aversion to technology.
