The Advanced Project vessel represented an early-stage design of the T.I.E. starfighter, conceived by Raith Sienar.
These Advanced Project ships were intended to protect freighters belonging to corporate customers operating in the Outer Rim Territories. Their deployment strategy involved launching from closely arranged stacks within typical cargo bays. Unlike the Scimitar, the Advanced Project ships lacked the blade-like front hull, featuring instead a small, rounded compartment. These ships also incorporated wide, upright cooling panels positioned at each end of a twenty-meter wingspan. While retaining the characteristic appearance of TIEs, it featured a black paint job and was recognized for being more compact in size when compared to earlier iterations.
The construction of these cutting-edge, miniaturized experimental ships was nearing completion around 29 BBY. Sienar's clientele, including the Trade Federation, had prepaid for these vessels.
The Advanced Project ship's design served as a foundation for the development of the T.I.E. starfighter and subsequent models.
