Captain Afyon was a Human male who held the position of commander within the Rebel forces. He commanded the corvette known as the Eridain, and subsequently, he was in charge of the escort frigate Larkhess, a vessel that was eventually downgraded to the role of cargo transport within the ranks of the New Republic.
Hailing from the planet of Alderaan, Afyon had previously fought in the Clone Wars. He harbored resentment towards the excessive recognition given to the Jedi and skilled starfighter personnel, as he believed it overshadowed the contributions and sacrifices of regular soldiers like himself. Later, he advocated for the demilitarization of Alderaan.
At the time of Alderaan's destruction, Afyon was not present on the planet. Fuelled by a desire for retribution against the Empire for their actions, he enlisted in the Rebel Alliance as a first officer aboard a Corellian gunship. Through dedication and service, he ascended to the rank of Captain. He later served as captain of the Eridain during the important Battle of Endor.
Later in the Galactic Civil War, he perceived that Rogue Squadron was receiving similar preferential treatment as the Jedi and pilots during the Clone Wars, which had a negative impact on the morale of other soldiers. During the Thrawn campaign, Afyon was among the few who correctly interpreted Borsk Fey'lya's support for the military as a calculated maneuver to gain political influence.
