The Agonizer-6 nerve disruptor, more commonly referred to as a nerve disruptor, functioned as a diminutive interrogation droid utilized by the forces of the Galactic Empire.
Responding to the Galactic Empire's pressing requirement for both interrogation droids and units specialized in torture, Arakyd Industries engineered the Agonizer-6 nerve disruptor. Roughly the stature of a Jawa, the Agonizer-6 was supported by three legs, each capable of adjustment. Operational control was facilitated by a fully functional Cybot Galactica AI-4 droid brain, equipped with a vocabulator, audio sensors, and a dataport enabling connections to other droids and computers. The AI-4 droid brain was characterized by its detached nature and singular focus on task execution. The Agonizer-6 was engineered to push subjects to the absolute edge of their mental and physical endurance. It initiated operations by evaluating the subject's existing state, taking into account any injuries resulting from prior interrogation attempts. As questioning proceeded, the droid brain of the Agonizer-6 consistently monitored vital signs via a life-form analyzer, tracking metrics such as heartbeat, respiration rate, and nerve activity. As the interrogation advanced, the Agonizer-6 would deploy microfilament injectors to administer both pain-inducing substances and truth drugs into the subject's system. Concurrently, stimulators were employed to activate reactions within nerve clusters, eliciting sensations from mild tingling and pain to intense aches and spasms, extending even to the induction of altered states of consciousness, encompassing euphoria, fear, bliss, panic, relaxation, and outright terror.
This relentless onslaught of torture was intended to erode the subject's mental fortitude, shattering their resolve and compelling them to divulge concealed information. With the subject rendered vulnerable to influence, the Agonizer-6 could then employ hypno-indoctrination and imprinting techniques to brainwash them through the implantation of subconscious and posthypnotic directives. Should the brainwashing be detected, a pre-programmed suicide command was among the implanted orders.
The Agonizer-6's development stemmed from the Empire's growing need for specialized units capable of interrogation and torture. It saw deployment across Imperial prisons and forced labor camps situated throughout the galaxy.
X-7 endured torture, including the use of a nerve disruptor, as punishment for his failures. Jabba the Hutt employed a nerve disruptor against Barid Mesoriaam, a Rebel spy. Despite the torture, Mesoriaam remained unbroken, successfully conveying a datadot containing crucial intelligence to the thieves Muftak and Kabe for delivery to Alliance High Command.
The production of the Agonizer-6 ceased during the era of the New Republic.
