Doctor Akimbo, a male Mon Calamari, held the position of chief medical officer for the Rebel Alliance's Reginard Base during the Galactic Civil War.
Akimbo, while stationed at Reginard Base, held less formal power than some of the higher-ranking officers, but his medical and scientific insights were always sought after. Besides managing the infirmary, Akimbo also maintained a small research facility. He was often seen in a white coat, carrying a variety of scientific tools. Like many Mon Calamari, he possessed a gentle nature and a desire to expand his knowledge.
When Adonar Dellox, the base's Chief Technician, was discovered dead, Akimbo, arriving directly from his lab, was the one who examined the corpse. Akimbo immediately instructed everyone to move away from the body, quarantining all those who had made contact with it in the sick bay, and summoning a detox team to handle the remains. After the area was secured and the detox team began an air decontamination process, Akimbo approached General Corros and identified the deceased. He then departed with the detox team, assuring Corros that he would communicate any findings from the autopsy.
He soon determined that Dellox had succumbed to the virulent triflexia virus, and promptly assembled everyone in the base's common room for testing. When a group of Rebels at the base began an investigation into Dellox's death, they inquired with Akimbo about his knowledge of triflexia, and he shared all the information he possessed. However, Akimbo was unaware that this particular strain of triflexia had been bioengineered by the Galactic Empire to serve as a deadly poison.
