Akurians, also referred to as Snow Stompers (a nickname), and the insulting Snow Demons, were sentient beings native to Akuria II. These beings, with their white fur, resembled Wookiees in terms of height and build, and possessed cranial crests of hair that stretched from their noses to the back of their necks. Around 0 ABY, they assisted Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa in their fight against the Galactic Empire forces stationed on their planet.
Following the removal of the Imperial garrison from Akuria II, the Alliance to Restore the Republic permitted these Snow Demons to take back possession of their frozen homeworld. Fafnir was the Akurians' chieftain during this period.
