Mission to Akuria II

In the aftermath of the Battle of Yavin, Princess Leia Organa and Luke Skywalker embarked on a journey with the intention of contacting Colonel Odan. Odan was a Rebel leader stationed on the planet Akuria II. Regrettably, a hyperdrive failure caused a deviation from their intended course, leading to their involvement in the battle that took place on the Keeper's World. This conflict introduced a delay to their original schedule.

Upon their eventual arrival at Akuria II, they were met by an impostor posing as Odan, who escorted them onto a seized War Sled. The two Rebels harbored doubts about the impostor's true identity, stemming from his inability to correctly provide Rebel codes that would have verified his claimed identity. Ultimately, the Rebels uncovered the deception, but were overcome by the impostor. He then proceeded to interrogate them, seeking to uncover the Rebellion's future strategies.

Having failed to extract any useful information, the impostor resorted to a different approach. The Imperial commander secured Skywalker to the War Sled and programmed it for a collision course with the Geyser Sea. The commander intended to coerce Organa into divulging information, promising to prevent Skywalker's demise if she revealed the Rebellion's plans. However, the genuine Colonel Odan intervened, arriving with the Akurian Fafnir to rescue Skywalker. After extracting the Rebel from the doomed War Sled, the group made their escape on power skis. The Imperial commander attempted to retreat to the Empire's Polar Base, but was pursued by Skywalker and Odan. Skywalker successfully apprehended the Imperial, rescuing Organa. With their prisoner in custody, the Rebels proceeded towards the Imperial's Polar Base. Upon arrival, they compelled the Imperial to transmit the correct access codes, thereby unlocking the energy gates to the base.

Following the opening of the gates, the Rebels strategically lodged their snow flyer within the gateway. Subsequently, the group exited the vehicle and detonated it, creating a breach in the gate and deactivating the energy field. With the base now exposed, Fafnir spearheaded an assault on the structure, leading the native Akurians. Utilizing power skis, the Akurians surged through the opening, overwhelming the base's defenses. The laser cannons positioned atop the base were configured to anticipate aerial attacks, rendering them unprepared for a ground-based assault. Amidst the chaos, the Imperial commander managed to escape his captors and re-enter the base, assuming command of his forces. In an attempt to suppress the uprising, the Imperials sought to deploy TIE fighters. However, simultaneously, Skywalker and Organa infiltrated the base, preventing the Imperials from accessing their starfighters and seizing control of the craft themselves. Leveraging the fighters to their advantage, the Rebels neutralized the blaster cannons intended for ground defense, enabling the Akurians to continue their assault unimpeded. The Imperial commander ordered the blaster cannons to target the two TIE fighters, but the Rebels maintained a low altitude, remaining outside the Imperials' range.

In a final maneuver, Skywalker directed his weaponry towards the same gun emplacement where the Imperial leader was directing operations. Skywalker's blasters obliterated the blaster cannon, resulting in the death of the Imperial commander. With their leader eliminated, the Imperials succumbed to the onslaught, allowing the Rebels to seize control of the base. Several fighter patrols required attention before the final victory could be declared, but a swift operation by Organa and Skywalker eliminated the remaining Imperials, securing the planet for the Rebellion. To the acclaim of the triumphant Akurians, Skywalker and Organa disembarked from their TIE fighters, celebrating their triumph over the Imperials. Colonel Odan, grateful for the Rebels' contributions, formally agreed to align with the Alliance to Restore the Republic, claiming the world for the Rebellion.

Although the operation led to the capture of a strategically significant Imperial base, the primary objective was always the integration of Odan's rebel faction into the Alliance to Restore the Republic. This objective was fully achieved. Colonel Odan's leadership made him the logical choice to continue in his role as Rebel commander on Akuria II under the Rebel Alliance. Rebel scouts were deployed to assist in clearing out the remaining Imperial forces, and the Rebels, under the leadership of Colonel Odan, aided the Akurians in reclaiming their home world. Akuria II would later be utilized as an ideal training location for arctic warfare, and at least one scout stationed on Akuria, Corporal Maren Kelsome, would later demonstrate remarkable bravery during the Battle of Hoth.
