The Geyser Sea existed on the planet of Akuria II as a water-filled area. A network of hot geysers below the sea warmed it, and also appeared to tint the color of the water with an orange shade. The Akuria Rebel Base utilized a portion of the Geyser Sea to provide internal heating by redirecting it into the base.
Following the revelation of his real identity to Leia Organa and Luke Skywalker, the Imperial commander impersonating the Rebel leader Odan ensnared Luke in an out-of-control War Sled headed straight for the Geyser Sea. Just in the nick of time, Odan, Fafnir, C-3PO, and R2-D2 came to Luke's rescue.
