The Aldereenians represented a sentient species of insectoids. Their origin was the Aldereen system, situated within the Inner Rim Territories. As of 8 ABY, they operated a consulate on the planet Coruscant. This consulate was situated nearly 200 kilometers away from the Alderaanian consulate. On the day that the Human pair Han Solo and Leia Organa celebrated their wedding, Luke Skywalker, their chosen best man, was taken to the Aldereenian consulate because of a wayward shuttle pilot.
The novel The Courtship of Princess Leia, penned by Dave Wolverton in 1994, makes reference to the Aldereenians.
