Alliance Comms Center
The Alliance Comms Center was a facility erected on the Inner Rim planet of Thyferra by the Galactic Empire. Its construction occurred prior to the Empire's attempt to seize back control of the world, circa 0 BBY year. After its completion, the structure was eventually left unoccupied, subsequently falling into the hands of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. This organization was rebelling against the Imperial regime. The Alliance augmented the site with anti-infantry turrets close to the uplink, and maintained a defensive force consisting of Rebel troopers and a pair of T2-B repulsor tanks in the immediate vicinity.
Around 0 BBY, Darth Vader, the Sith apprentice serving Galactic Emperor Palpatine, invaded Thyferra. He commanded an Imperial force comprised of stormtroopers and All Terrain Scout Transports, all under the direction of a field commander, with the objective of defeating the treacherous Moff named Kalast.
The Imperial forces killed the Rebel guards stationed at the communications center. Following this, they demolished the building itself on Vader's orders, and pressed forward with their overall assault. The Alliance base suffered extensive damage, and its defending troops were overcome.
Behind the scenes
The communications center has, to date, only been featured in the 2006 video game Star Wars: Empire at War. The structure makes an appearance in the opening mission of the Imperial campaign storyline, and its ultimate destiny is contingent on the player's actions. The Imperial forces are required to overcome two anti-infantry turrets, two T2-B tanks, and a contingent of Rebel troopers in order to reach the array, at which point Vader will issue the order for its destruction. Should the player fail to approach the complex, the events described in this article will not transpire.
