Altar of the Dark Side

The Altar of the Dark Side served as a place of worship for the Dark Side priests and was situated on a jungle planet of unknown designation. It was directly linked to the presence of the Dark Side pyramids.

History

This altar was positioned atop the largest of the pyramids and stood one meter tall, crafted from precisely cut stones without mortar. Its upper surface featured six depressions, each sized to accommodate a person. At the front of each depression was a small platform, suitable for standing. Behind each platform, narrow steps were built into the Altar's rear, presumably to enable users to ascend to their respective platforms. For more than two millennia, it functioned as a site for sacrificing victims to the Dark Side priests, the former rulers of the planet, who conducted daily sacrifices of both enemies and allies. The priests' use of dark side methods in these killings caused the dark side's influence to permeate the stone, similar to tar seeping into soil. During the Galactic Civil War, a band of Rebels, guided by a Jedi, came across the Altar after the Jedi detected the trapped spirits from the planet's orbit. Master Zik'tath, communicating from within the Altar, revealed the planet's history and requested the group to dismantle the Altar, liberating the trapped souls. Shortly thereafter, the group faced an assault from Dark Side wraiths, remnants of the Dark Side priests, but they ultimately prevailed by detonating explosives on the Altar, resulting in its destruction and the release of all the souls.
