The Ambush within Cron Drift is an event that transpired during the Galactic Civil War as a part of Operation Skyhook.
In the year 1 BBY, the Alliance to Restore the Republic engaged in the theft of Imperial communications satellites with the intention of infiltrating the Imperial communications network. The plan involved deploying these satellites in the vicinity of AX-235, a secret Rebel base located among the asteroids of Cron Drift, to monitor Imperial communications.
The CR90 corvette named Jeffrey and the BFF-1 bulk freighter called Ojai were assigned the mission of transporting the stolen satellites to the Rebel base. During their planned meeting with the transport named Magnus within Cron Drift, they faced an attack from Imperial Assault Gunboats and stormtrooper transports. The Imperial forces were ultimately defeated due to the assistance provided by X-wing starfighters originating from the Calamari Cruiser known as the Independence.
AX-235 was the very outpost that subsequently intercepted an Imperial transmission containing the schematics for the Death Star. Given the critical nature of this intelligence, the Alliance sent Biggs Darklighter piloting a T-65 X-wing starfighter to recover it.
