Ann Skinner served as the continuity supervisor on the 1977 movie, Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which was under the direction of George Lucas. While the filming took place at Elstree Studios, which is located close to London, and in Tunisia for on-location shots, Skinner used and adjusted the script, meticulously documenting the scenes as they were filmed. The special effects were independently produced in Los Angeles by Lucas' company, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM). Once Skinner obtained the script during pre-production, she estimated the anticipated length of the film and verified the sequence of scenes to aid in planning the filming schedule.
Skinner's resume also includes her work on Far from the Madding Crowd (1967), Darling (1965), and Oh! What a Lovely War (1969).
