Antamont

Antamont, situated within the Meridian sector's Antamont system, was a mountainous planet that lacked industrial development.

History

During the era of the Clone Wars, Antamont served as a Republic stronghold. The Confederacy of Independent Systems initiated an attack employing a force consisting of B1-series battle droids and B2 grapple droids, aiming to overwhelm the Grand Army of the Republic and seize control of this agricultural world. A noteworthy incident during the conflict involved a single B1 droid experiencing an "awakening." This occurred after it sustained significant damage due to the explosion of a mine. Disconnected from the droid control program, the droid was able to activate its self-preservation protocols, leading it to desert the Separatist Droid Army. A Grapple droid pursued the renegade droid, attempting to bring it back into service. However, after a short fight, both droids fell over the edge of a cliff. The Grapple droid, damaged and without its control program, experienced fear as it began to power down. The B1 droid expressed sympathy and remained by the disabled machine as it ceased functioning. As its energy reserves depleted, the solitary droid ascended a nearby hill and rested beneath a lone tree. The battle on the planet subsided, resulting in a Republic victory, and neither side recovered the droid.

Behind the scenes

The planet of Antamont was initially conceived for the Pathways narrative within Clone Wars Adventures, which was released in 2007. Although initially unnamed, its designation was first established in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, and its coordinates were subsequently provided in The Essential Atlas.
