Ardon "Vapor" Crell was a moisture farmer of the Human species on the planet of Tatooine. By 4 ABY, he had become a member of the Moisture Farmers of Tatooine organization, specifically within the local 253 sector. Serving as a go-between for local 253 and the crime lord Jabba the Hutt, Crell's duty was to gather money from the moisture farmers and deliver it to the Hutt in exchange for protection from Tusken Raiders. Crell was present in Jabba's Palace during the events of 4 ABY when allies of Jabba's prisoner, Han Solo, arrived to attempt a rescue. As a result of these events, Jabba condemned Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Chewbacca to death at the Great Pit of Carkoon. He was among the members of Jabba's court who accompanied the crime lord aboard the luxury sail barge _Khetanna_ to witness the executions. However, the prisoners fought back, leading to the Khetanna's destruction.
During the Galactic Civil War, a conflict between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic, Human Ardon Crell, also known as "Vapor," worked as a moisture farmer on Tatooine. By the time 4 ABY arrived, he had become part of local 253, a division of the Moisture Farmers of Tatooine organization. His fellow farmers selected him to act as a link between local 253 and the crime lord Jabba the Hutt. The moisture farmers had made an agreement to pay Jabba for protection from Tusken Raiders, and Crell's job was to collect and deliver these payments.
In 4 ABY, Crell was an observer in the audience chamber of Jabba's Palace when Princess Leia Organa, a leader of the Alliance, arrived disguised as the bounty hunter Boushh. Her purpose was to rescue her ally Han Solo, who was frozen in carbonite and displayed on the wall of the palace's courtroom. She was accompanied by the Wookiee Chewbacca, presented as her captive, and threatened to detonate a thermal detonator to destroy the palace. Like the rest of the Hutt's court, Crell was frightened by Organa's threat. Although Organa gained the Hutt's favor, she rescued Solo that night and tried to escape the palace. Crell and others in the palace joined the crime lord in recapturing Organa and Solo, who were then imprisoned. Later, their friend Luke Skywalker came to the palace to demand their release, but the Hutt threw Skywalker into the pit with his pet rancor. However, Skywalker killed the rancor, which led the Hutt to sentence Skywalker, Solo, and Chewbacca to death at the Great Pit of Carkoon.
To witness the execution of the prisoners, Crell and other members of Jabba's court went with the Hutt aboard the luxury sail barge Khetanna. The captives fought back, resulting in Jabba's death and the destruction of the Khetanna.
When Leia Organa threatened to destroy Jabba's Palace with a thermal detonator, Ardon Crell showed signs of panic. He had fair skin, brown eyes, and black hair.
Ardon Crell's first appearance was as an uncredited extra in the Jabba's Palace scenes and on the Khetanna in the 1983 film Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. He was first named and given a backstory in April 1998 on a card in Jabba's Palace Limited, an expansion set for the Star Wars Customizable Card Game.
