Ark Brell dedicated his life to environmentalism, striving to rehabilitate his homeworld of Taris during the era leading up to its destruction in 3956 BBY. On Taris, Brell established several facilities for water purification and waste management. His goal was to convert the waste produced by Taris's many manufacturing plants into alternative energy sources, thereby reducing the planet's overall waste. Regrettably, when Darth Malak, a Sith Lord, initiated the bombardment of the world, numerous industrial sites and Brell's facilities were obliterated, releasing hazardous materials across the landscape. Centuries afterward, the region surrounding the Taris ChemWorks Factory became recognized as the Brell Sediment. Furthermore, a body of acid water in that vicinity was christened Lake Brell in honor of the environmentalist, fueled by a long-standing myth that the lake originated from pollutants released by one of Brell's own facilities.
