Armstiss was a place where the Poporov merchants established themselves during the Galactic Empire's rule. These merchants, based on Armstiss, once rose up against the Empire, leading to the dispatch of Captain Strayit and Lieutenant Zertik Strom from the Imperial Navy starship Marshall Awe to quell the uprising. The rebellion concluded dramatically when Strom intercepted a blaster shot intended for Strayit, subsequently shoving a thermal detonator into the rebel leader's trousers and launching him off a cliff into the crowd of his followers. The resulting blast demolished a significant portion of the merchant stalls, effectively suppressing any further resistance.
