Arpor-Lan designated a sentient species of Humanoids characterized by their horned chins. Originating from Arporatal-Lanin, the Arpor-Lans achieved widespread recognition across the galaxy as skilled scouts and trackers. In the final centuries of the Galactic Republic, Arpor-Lans were subjected to slavery under the dominion of noble houses governing the Juvex sector. Subsequently, certain Arpor-Lans attained the rank of officers within the Alliance to Restore the Republic, including Lieutenants Deeve and Fraj T'lin.
The Arpor-Lan were sentient Humanoids that possessed a physical form generally similar to that of Humans. They possessed two arms and two legs, and they experienced pain with prolonged exertion. It was noted that they perspired around their eyes, and their tongue was sufficiently dexterous to operate the monitor pads of a breath mask. Their resemblance to Humans was sufficient for them to utilize Human-compatible technology, such as a face breather. Like Humans, Arpor-Lan had hair on their heads.
Nevertheless, their faces exhibited two notable differences. The eyebrows of an Arpor-Lan featured external bony plates, and their chins displayed short horns. Some Arpor-Lan would nervously tug at their horns or clear their throats. Arpor-Lan were susceptible to phobias.
Arporatal-Lanin, situated in the Juvex sector of the Mid Rim, served as the homeworld of the Arpor-Lan. The native Arpor-Lan were renowned galaxy-wide for their skills as hunters, scouts, and trackers.
During the era of the Galactic Civil War, Arpor-Lan traveled throughout the galaxy. Some were armed and prone to instinctively drawing a blaster when feeling threatened.
The Arpor-Lan were the indigenous species of Arporatal-Lanin, a world previously unknown to the galactic community. Around 1000 BBY, the magnate Thull Vandron assembled seventeen noble houses from the Core Worlds and relocated them to a concealed cluster of planets. These planets were divided into two groups: Senex and Juvex. Arportal-Lanin was situated within Juvex, a region allocated to Houses Carbinol, Hallikeenovich, Kassido, Kellermin, Mekuun, Pilor, Sisemon, and Sreethyn. These aristocrats discovered native species on their respective worlds and spent a century subjugating them through the use of starships and blaster cannons. Arporatal-Lanin, along with the other planets in Juvex, became the property of these aristocrats.
By 700 BBY, the native species of Juvex, including the Arpor-Lan, had been enslaved for such an extended period that they regarded freedom as a mere legend. However, the Galactic Republic subsequently discovered Senex and Juvex, initiating a complex relationship with the ruling houses. Republic pilots heard rumors of enslaved local populations. In 553 BBY, a Republic warlord began liberating some of the species in the region. During the Fourth Nantama Synod, the Houses acceded to the Republic, with Senex and Juvex becoming designated sectors.
Nevertheless, the Galactic Senate expressed disapproval of the Houses' practice of slavery, deeming it a violation of the Rights of Sentience. The Houses insisted on retaining this integral aspect of their culture, resulting in numerous disputes in the centuries that followed.
By 0 ABY, a number of Arpor-Lan had enlisted in the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Lieutenant Fraj T'lin, an Arpor-Lan, was stationed at the Rebel base on Yavin 4 shortly after the Battle of Yavin. By 2 ABY, the accomplished scout Lieutenant Deeve had become one of the most well-known Arpor-Lan within the Alliance, and he also served Alliance Intelligence. During the era of the New Republic, Deeve was employed by the Bureau of Scouting and Exploration Services of the New Republic.

Deeve's initial appearance occurred in Galaxy Guide 8: Scouts (1993), but his species remained unidentified until Alliance Intelligence Reports (1995). The graphic representation of Deeve in this later publication shares several characteristics with depictions of the Zygerrians.
