The ascension cable refers to a specific type of grappling hook. It saw usage during the conflict known as the Clone Wars. Clone troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic commonly used both the DC-15A blaster carbine and DC-15A blaster rifles, both of which were equipped with these ascension cables. Furthermore, the DC-17 hand blaster, another standard weapon of the Republic Army, could be fitted with a grappling extension to allow for the use of an ascension cable with the smaller weapon.
During the training exercises of Domino Squad, Master Chief Bric attempted to undermine their last attempt at the Citadel Challenge. He did this by taking the squad's ascension cables. However, this action ultimately motivated the previously arguing clones to cooperate and discover an alternative method to successfully complete the challenge.
An extension was utilized by Clone Captain Rex along with ARC trooper Fives during the Battle of Ringo Vinda.
