Asenec

A Croke individual from Crakull, named Asenec, was identified as male. Functioning as both a writer and a poet, Asenec faced widespread prejudice, attributable to both his species and the nature of his poems, which were perceived as disturbing, repulsive, and deeply objectionable.

Life and works

Asenec, one of the rare Crokes who ventured beyond the Unknown Regions and gained recognition in the wider galaxy, maintained an active career as a poet until his passing in 244 BBY. His literary creations were met with disdain from critics. It seemed Asenec intentionally aimed to shock and offend his readership, focusing on subjects such as revenge, the manipulation of ooze, oppressive acts of tyranny, and desolate, ruined landscapes.

This Croke poet contributed a single piece to The Despotica, the expansive literary compilation of dramatic works and poems centered on Xim the Despot. This contribution was entitled "The Gleam of Kiirium." This particular poem differed from his typical subject matter, and while it did praise the Despot, Ximologists such as S. V. Skynx pointed out that it also conveyed a sense of melancholic romance. Speculation arose that Asenec composed the poem while on his deathbed, leading some critics to question its authenticity, suggesting it was too dissimilar to his other works to be genuinely his.

Due to the intense hostility and offensive nature present in much of Asenec's writings, he became one of the most censored authors throughout the galaxy. Even centuries after his death, the publishers involved with The Despotica declined to include "The Gleam of Kiirium," fearing that doing so would be seen as an endorsement of him. It was also rumored that Darth Sidious felt literary sympathy for Asenec because of his misanthropy and spite.
