Ash B'risko was a pilot of freighters, and a male Human.
Around the era of the Clone Wars, Ash's path crossed with Vydel Dir'Nul, a Jedi Knight, while she served as a bodyguard for the Jedi Council. She developed feelings for him; however, witnessing him in a flirtatious encounter with a dancing Twi'lek, she was overcome with jealousy and killed both of them.
Subsequently, Dir'Nul manifested multiple personality disorder, creating the alternate identity of Kardem, a dark jedi who was male. As Kardem, she went on to murder female Twi'leks, while her original personality was under the impression that she was hunting Kardem to stop his killing spree and get revenge for Ash.
Ash B'risko's name has elements in common with two characters portrayed by Bruce Campbell: Ashley J. "Ash" Williams, the main character from the Evil Dead film franchise, and the character Brisco County, Jr. from the television show The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.. According to Jason Hall, the writer of "Dark Journey," this was a deliberate reference to the actor.
