Atrisian script

Atrisian script was a writing system that originated on Atrisia and saw use across the galaxy.

History

The Sayings of Uueg Tching were written down by Atrisian scribes using this script. Uueg intended these writings to serve as a guide for his descendants, and he taught them to his heirs.

During the Cold War, Atrisian script was frequently observed in inscriptions and advertisements, particularly on Nar Shaddaa. This suggests that the script had already achieved widespread galactic adoption by 3653 BBY.

Many millennia afterwards, by the time of the Galactic Civil War, its most common application was for the purpose of keeping information secret.

The Galactic Empire employed code locks in their facilities, requiring the entry of combinations using Atrisian alphabet letters to gain access to restricted areas. Officers typically possessed code keys displaying the necessary 3-letter combinations. Furthermore, some crates stored in the possession of Ramsees Hed featured labels written using Atrisian characters.

A decorative rendition of this alphabet made an appearance in the 1994 release, Star Wars Screen Entertainment, specifically within a module that recreated the Death Star Viewport as it targeted Yavin 4.
