Attack line

An attack line represented a specific battle formation within the Imperial Navy, led by a captain of the line. These attack lines consisted of a variable number of starships, ranging from three to six, and this number was determined by the size and classification of the included vessels. For example, if heavy cruisers or even larger vessels were involved, the line would comprise only three ships. Conversely, if light cruisers or frigates were utilized, the line would expand to six ships. The primary function of attack lines was to provide support to Star Destroyers or other premier capital ships when they were present. They would engage enemy forces within the Star Destroyer's engagement envelope, but at a distance that prevented the enemy from effectively damaging the Star Destroyer itself.
