The Mirgoshir campaign represents a military operation that unfolded in the initial months of the Clone Wars.
History
In the wake of the Battle of Geonosis, the Confederacy of Independent Systems rapidly deployed its military assets into the Lahara sector. Their objective was to secure control over the planet of Agamar and the strategically vital hyperspace crossroads located within the Mirgoshir system.
A single month following the conflict on Geonosis, Count Dooku deployed the devastating Force Harvester on Agamar. Soon after this event, the Galactic Republic successfully annihilated the Dark Reaper superweapon during the Battle of Thule. With their triumph on Thule, Republic forces, under the leadership of Mace Windu, made preparations to head for the Mirgoshir system.
By five months after the Battle of Geonosis, combat operations were still ongoing within the Mirgoshir system. Separatist forces found themselves unable to provide reinforcements to those fighting on Brentaal IV.
The Grand Army of the Republic sustained significant and devastating casualties throughout the Mirgoshir campaign. Numerous Republic walkers were lost while attempting to navigate the natural bridge formations of Agamar, which gave way beneath their considerable weight. These unfortunate incidents ultimately spurred the development of the UT-AT repulsorcraft later in the Clone Wars.
