Ballantine Books

Ballantine Books, a publishing house, was established in 1952 by the husband-and-wife team of Ian Ballantine and Betty Ballantine. Subsequently, in 1973, Random House acquired it.

In 1977, Del Rey was introduced as Ballantine Books' science-fiction imprint, and it is responsible for publishing all Star Wars novels, with the exception of those initially released by Bantam Spectra between 1991 and 1999.
